Herman Cain: I'd Offer the Palestinians 'Nothing'

Monday, 23 May 2011 09:02 PM EDT

GOP presidential candidate Herman Cain said he wouldn't offer anything to the Palestinians in peace negotations with Israel if he were president.

“I’m not convinced the Palestinians are really interested in peace,” Cain, the former CEO of Godfathers Pizza, said on Fox News Sunday. He said bluntly he'd give them "nothing."

"If we look at history, it has been clear that the Palestinians have always wanted to push the Israelis and push Israel for more and more and more," said Cain, who announced his Republican candidacy for president Saturday.

Cain was responding to Obama's announcement last week that he'd back a peace plan built on Israel's pre-1967 borders -- borders that Israel Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu called "indefensible."

He also said “it’s Israel’s decision, not President Obama’s decision as to where those border lines ought to be.”
