The only certainty surrounding what will happen with the Bush-era tax cuts appears to be uncertainty. House Republicans on Tuesday said they are worried Democrats may try to conduct the vote for part of the Bush tax cuts under a House rule requiring a two-thirds bush, tax, cuts, democrats, republicansmajority for passage. That would almost certainly torpedo the plan, Politico reports.

Republicans will insist on nothing less than a continuation of the tax cuts for everyone, regardless of their income, the congressmen said after a Republican Conference meeting Tuesday.

“I don’t know what [House] Speaker [Nancy] Pelosi didn’t hear in this election, but she certainly didn’t hear the American people if they’re going to operate this way in the closing days of their leadership,” says Rep. Greg Walden of Oregon, chairman of the GOP leadership.
