Young Dems Feel Left Out in Cold

With the Democratic House leadership likely to remain the same in next year’s Congress, young House members in the party will remain on the outside. Given the drubbing Democrats suffered in last week’s elections, the youngsters aren’t too happy about this situation, The Hill reports.

young, democrats, cold, pelosiThe top three Democrats in the House – outgoing Speaker Nancy Pelosi (pictured), Majority Leader Steny Hoyer and Majority Whip James Clyburn — all are 70 or older and have served in Congress for decades.

Rep. Jason Altmire, D-Pa., typifies the attitude of the younger Democrats. “It is inescapable that the message that was sent by the American people is they want a change in direction,” he told Fox News last week. “And a change in direction means a change in leadership.”
