Weiner Trying to Pick Successor

Disgraced former Democratic Rep. Anthony Weiner wants to have a say in who is chosen to succeed him in his New York congressional district. Wiener has been reaching out to party bigs and potential candidates, reports the New York Post.

Anthony Weiner, successor, Congress“He's interested in a Democrat keeping the seat. I'm pretty sure he's spoken to everybody,” said one unnamed insider, who confirmed that Weiner had contacted Queens Democratic Party Chairman Rep. Joe Crowley.

Both Republicans and Democrats are interested in the seat, which could become nonexistent after districts are redrawn according to 2010 Census population data.

Weiner recently resigned from his seat recently after revelations emerged that he had had inappropriate online exchanges with young women.
