WASHINGTON — The wife of Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas says she has reached out to Anita Hill, who accused the justice of sexual harassment during confirmation hearings 19 years ago.

Virginia Thomas says in a statement that she was "extending an olive branch" to Hill, now a Brandeis University professor.

Hill did not necessarily receive Thomas' voicemail message that way, contacting Brandeis' public safety office, which in turn informed the FBI.
