Most experts have assumed that Forbes magazine generally has overestimated when listing the wealth of Donald Trump as part of its Forbes 400 list. Forbes’ tally now is $2.7 billion. But sources close to the real estate mogul/reality TV star say Forbes actually is low-balling, and they claim that Trump really is worth more than $7 billion, Politico reports.

Donald Trump, Forbes, billions"If and when Donald Trump announces his decision to run for the office of the presidency, he will be filing financial disclosure statements that will show his net worth is in excess of $7 billion, with more than $250 million of cash and very little debt,” one of the sources said. “He is very, very liquid."

Trump echoed those comments on CNN. “I can tell you that's a very low number," he said of the $2.7 billion. "It's much more than that. And if I decide to run, which I very well may surprise people, but if I decide to run, I will give a net worth statement essentially.”

In other Trump news, the Donald restated the fact that he is leading an investigation in Hawaii to figure out definitively where President Barack Obama was born. Voters will be "very surprised" at what he has found, Trump told CNN. "We're looking into it very, very strongly. At a certain point in time, I'll be revealing some interesting things," he said.

When Trump first revealed the inquiry this month, Trump told NBC: "I have people that have been studying it, and they cannot believe what they're finding.”
