It’s pretty much accepted wisdom now that Republicans will regain control of the House next week. National Republican Congressional Committee Chairman Pete Sessions will release a memo today echoing that view, Politico reports
The GOP congressional team is “closing the deal,” Sessions writes. He points to strong fundraising activity and the fact that the NRCC is now targeting 90 districts. “The Democrats’ ‘triage’ strategy is cutting off outgoing incumbents at a rapid pace, all but conceding losses in key races,” he says.
“As Republicans continue to push the borders of the playing field, the DCCC [Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee] and its allies are forced to spend money in races they expected would be locked up weeks ago. Even more troubling for Democrats is the fact that many of these races are even competitive in the first place.”
