President Barack Obama’s contention that conservative groups American Crossroads and the U.S. Chamber of Commerce may have gotten money from foreign sources registered a positive impact – for Republicans, says ace political strategist Karl Rove. “The president, by attacking American Crossroads, has helped drive people to our website and has helped to raise the amount of money that we received,” Rove told Fox News, Politico reports.

Rove, Obama, American Crossroads,Rove, a founder of American Crossroads, said donations to the group and its Crossroads GPS campaign arm have jumped in the week since Obama’s attacks. “And that $13.3 million that we’ve received since he began these attacks is going to allow us to help broaden the playing field,” he said.

On Wednesday, the Crossroads groups raised their total fundraising goal for these elections to $65 million from $50 million to $60 million originally.
