Santorum to Seek GOP Nod, Iowa Campaign Chief Says

Former Sen. Rick Santorum of Pennsylvania will try for the Republican presidential nomination, reports the Des Moines Register. But he is undecided on which state he will use as his home base, said Jamie Johnson, Santorum’s Iowa campaign director.

“Rick Santorum is the natural candidate for voters who believe in faith, family and freedom,” Johnson said. “He has represented the family values voters for two decades with honor and with integrity.”

Johnson is courting Iowa gun-rights advocates, evangelicals, Roman Catholics, and home schoolers on behalf of the candidate, the Register reports.

Santorum has been hitting the campaign circuit hard Iowa, New Hampshire, and South Carolina as the caucuses near.
