Rahm Emanuel: I Don't Know About Solyndra Loan

Former top Obama aide Rahm Emanuel says he doesn’t remember the $500 million federal loan to bankrupt solar panel manufacturer Solyndra. The one-time White House chief of staff and now mayor of Chicago made the comment in an interview with Windy City radio station WLS, Politico reported.

“I don’t actually remember that or know about it. So, what I’m dealing is with what I’m dealing with here today,” Politico quotes Emanuel as saying. Emanuel was President Barack Obama’s chief of staff when the loan was being considered.

Solyndra, which declared bankruptcy in August, has since been raided by the FBI as part of a probe of the loan guarantee. The company has ties to both political parties, according to Politico.

The White House has maintained that the loan process was appropriate, while critics have alleged that it smacked of Obama cronyism.
