Republicans have done an excellent job in their approach with Hispanic candidates and voters, but not so well at communicating that success, says Republican National Committee Chairman Reince Priebus
. With President Barack Obama angling his rhetoric to attract Hispanic voters in recent days, the RNC is putting together its own effort, The Hill reports
Just because Republican congressmen don’t favor immigration reform until border security is taken care of, that doesn’t mean they can’t attract Hispanic support, Priebus tells The Hill.
“We have had great success in this party with Hispanic candidates and Hispanic voters,” he said. “We just do a lousy job of talking about it, and I hope to start. Over the next couple of years, I want to start a conversation with voters around this country to show that Republicans are the proper home for Hispanic voters.”
