Pelosi Backs Emanuel for Chicago Mayor

Rahm Emanuel, the White House chief of staff who is leaving to run for mayor of Chicago, has received the endorsement of House Speaker Nancy Pelosi,  Roll Call reports. Given her low popularity around the nation, Emanuel may wish she had kept quiet.

pelosi, emanuel, chicago, mayor“He enjoys a great reputation and ... affection among his former colleagues in the House of Representatives,” Pelosi said in a news conference Thursday. “He can do anything he sets his mind to, and we all wish him much success.”

The latest Rasmussen poll shows that 59 percent of likely voters nationwide have an unfavorable opinion of Pelosi.
