It’s not just moderate Democrats who are upset with outgoing House Speaker Nancy Pelosi. Liberals are angry too, and so she must bring them back into the fold if she hopes to win election as House Democratic Leader in the next Congress, Politico reports
“The first order of business for the sequence-oriented Pelosi is solidifying liberal base constituencies, both outside Congress and within her Democratic Caucus,” the news service states. “It’s their support she needs to remain the leader of a smaller, more liberal House Democratic contingent” after the decisive election defeat.
Pelosi already has begun the charm offensive toward liberals. In interviews with ABC News and NPR, she said she has “no regrets” about the Democrats’ agenda that turned off so many moderate and conservative voters.
