Sarah PAC Disses Rove as GOP Keeps Guessing on Palin

By    |   Tuesday, 23 August 2011 11:48 AM EDT

Former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin took a swipe Monday night at those such as Karl Rove who have suggested that she will enter the presidential race. That leaves Republicans continuing to guess: Will she or won’t she, The Hill reports.

Palin’s Sarah PAC published a strong statement saying that no outsider knows which way she will go. "Any professional pundit claiming to have 'inside information' regarding Gov. Palin's personal decision is not only wrong but their comments are specifically intended to mislead the American public," reads the PAC’s blog.

Those comments probably will aimed at star Republican strategist Rove, who told “Fox News Sunday” that the GOP’s 2008 vice-presidential candidate "has a schedule next week that looks like that of a candidate, not a celebrity." Palin is scheduled for a Sept. 3 visit to Iowa.

One political heavyweight from that state expects her to stay out of the contest. "My sense is that Sarah Palin has been actively staying engaged to keep her name in the mix. I just think she was going to put out a stronger indication by now if she was going to run," Rep. Steve King, R-Iowa, told The Hill. "I still think Sarah Palin isn't going to enter this race."

To be sure, King is not ruling anything out. "She has defied conventional wisdom before," he said. "It doesn't frustrate me, not at all. I'm glad she can keep a secret." He said he’d be happy to see Palin run.
