The idea of trimming foreign aid to help shrink the budget deficit has generated great controversy in Washington recently. For her part, former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin says our government should consider cutbacks, The Hill reports
Asked whether the U.S. government should continue providing assistance to Egypt, Palin told Fox Business Network that officials should be evaluating whether our aid commitments are appropriate around the world.
"Foreign aid and the level of dollars that are sent to these foreign countries, that shouldn't be some sort of Holy Grail where we can't even discuss the level of financial assistance,” she says. “We need to discuss it, and we need to pull back in those countries where the money isn't doing any good."
