Obama’s Fizzle with White Workers Dooms Dems

President Barack Obama is losing the support of American citizens across the board, and one group in particular could cause Democrats particular harm this year – the white working class. Obama has been unable to form a bond with them, Politico reports.

And that failure makes it easy for Republican candidates in next month’s elections to gain currency by connecting their Democratic opponents with the unpopular president. West Virginia Gov. Joe Manchin, who is locked in a tight battle for the Senate with Republican John Raese, is particularly sensitive to the issue. It may help him lose the election.

And Manchin says Obama will have to put his shoe leather to work to correct the problem. “If I were him, I’d start going to the places where people don’t like you that much,” Manchin says.
“You can’t win if you only go where you are comfortable.”
