Republicans aren’t united on how far to cut spending, just like the Democrats. Moderate Republicans banded together with Democrats on several House votes Wednesday in favor of spending,
Politico reports.

For example, 68 Republicans joined with Democrats to maintain at least reduced funding for legal aid to the poor. Just afterward 70 Republicans joined 158 Democrats to keep $280 million for the Community Oriented Policing Services (COPS), a pet program of Vice President Joe Biden. And 132 Republicans supported an amendment by Rep. Bill Pascrell, D-N.J., to restore $510 million for Homeland Security spending on first responders.
It looks like the GOP moderates will represent a thorn in the side for fiscal hawks as they seek deeper cuts in government spending.
