Mike Huckabee Heads to Iowa

It seems pretty clear that former Arkansas Republican Gov. Mike Huckabee will repeat his 2008 bid for the presidency two years from now. In another sign that he plans to throw his hat in the ring, Huckabee is headed later this month to Iowa, the state that holds the election’s first primary, Politico reports.

Huckabee places near the top of polls of potential Republican candidates along with ex-Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney and ex-Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin. Many White House officials predict that Huckabee will win the nomination, according to The New York Times.

He will be the keynote speaker at the Iowa Family Policy Center’s “Celebrate the Family” event Nov. 21. Huckabee will speak “about the role of the church regarding God-honoring civics, the current assault on marriage and family, and what it means to be a Christian statesman,” a knowledgeable source tells Politico.
