Huckabee: 'I Haven't Closed Doors' to a White House Run

By    |   Thursday, 02 June 2011 11:25 AM EDT

Former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee doesn’t foresee a strong Republican presidential nominee emerging from the primary process. So he’s open to the idea of re-entering the race after recently withdrawing, Arkansas News reports.

“Everything is still open,” the Fox TV and radio commentator told reporters after a speech at the Clinton presidential library in Little Rock. “I haven’t closed doors, because I found long ago that’s not a smart thing to do.”

He says he’s “not even thinking about changing my mind right now, [but] don’t rule anything out for the future.”

Republicans are in a tough spot, he says. The party’s nominee “is going to come out of a bloody primary broke and battered. That’s because I anticipate the Republicans will do what they typically do: they’ll have a demolition derby, a circular firing squad, and load up with bullets and start shooting.”
