Bachmann: I Accept Chris Wallace's Apology

By    |   Tuesday, 28 June 2011 06:33 AM EDT

Newly declared presidential candidate Michele Bachmann said Monday night she forgives Fox News’ Chris Wallace for asking whether she was a “flake.”

“I got a call at suppertime this evening from Chris Wallace and he offered his apology to me directly,” she told Fox News’ Sean Hannity. “I had not heard from him until suppertime today, but he called, he did apologize, and I was happy to accept his apology, and we’ll move on.

“The whole point of that interchange is that I am a serious person and a serious candidate for the presidency of the United States,” she said.

Hannity noted that Wallace had been contrite since the incident on “Fox News Sunday” and that journalists make mistakes.

Wallace said Sunday Bachmann had a reputation for gaffes, and asked her: “Are you a flake?” Bachmann answered that she was a “serious person’’ and found insinuations that she was a flake to be “insulting.”
