Given the difficulty of repealing the new healthcare law, many Republicans are seeking to withhold funding for it instead. Given the GOP’s new majority in the House and resurgence in the Senate, that’s a realistic goal. Senate Republican Leader Mitch McConnell says he’s carefully examining ways to implement de-funding, The Hill reports
"What we’re doing in my office is looking for the various parts of it that are subject to funding. And we will be revising this issue time after time. The American people expect us to," McConnell said in an interview on CBS’ “Face the Nation.”
Repeal will be difficult with President Barack Obama in office, he notes. "But if we can put a full repeal on his desk and replace it with the kind of common-sense forms that we were advocating during the debate to reduce spending, we owe it to the American people to do that."
