McCain Warns GOP against Overconfidence

Sen. John McCain, R-Ariz., warns the Republican Party against overconfidence as it appears set for major gains in November’s congressional elections. The senator knows how quickly tables can turn in an election. He appeared to be a shoo-in against Barack Obama in 2008 until the economy went south, The Hill reports.

mccain, warn, GOP, overconfidenceWith voters in a very bad mood amid continuing economic problems, the GOP needs to set forth a coherent set of policies as a campaign theme, McCain told Fox News.

“I want to emphasize one other thing: don't take anything for granted,” he said. “We will celebrate after the election results are in. Please, let's not anticipate a great victory, and let's give the American people a positive agenda that they can support."
