Sen. John McCain, R-Ariz., brands President Barack Obama’s policy of trying to engage Iran in diplomacy as a “failure.”
“It’s time the American people were told by the president of all of the activities that the Iranians have engaged in, which really are a destabilizing factor in the Middle East, but also throughout the world,” McCain said today on CNN's "State of the Union."
McCain denounced Iran as a “rogue nation” that has supplied munitions to Iraq, which resulted in the deaths of young Americans in response to recent allegations of an Iranian assassination plot on US soil.
McCain called on the president to seek severe sanctions against the Iranians and to “get tough” with the Chinese and Russians “who have clearly blocked meaningful measures.”
Moreover, the 2008GOP presidential nominee said “covert activities of some kind” should be considered. McCain declined to speculate whether such activities are already under way.
