Legislators of both parties and the White House are looking for ways to create jobs without adding further to a budget deficit that will likely total $1.5 trillion this year. But that’s not enough for liberals, who say deficit be damned,
The Hill reports.

Liberals seek “buy American” provisions that would require the federal government to buy goods and materials from domestic suppliers. They also want President Barack Obama to demand export equality with China to shrink the trade deficit.
And liberals pine for a national infrastructure investment bank. That would allow the government to inject money into the economy by buying infrastructure bonds so that federal money is directed to infrastructure construction and job creation.
Republicans and some Democrats in Congress are opposed, and so are important companies such as Caterpillar and General Electric.
