DeMint: White House Is ‘Gaming’ Republicans

South Carolina GOP Sen. Jim DeMint says he is not optimistic the Aug. 2 deadline to raise the nation's debt ceiling will be met nor is he hopeful about budget negotiations, according to Politico.

Appearing on "Fox News Sunday," DeMint said President Barack Obama has been "gaming" Republicans on raising the debt ceiling for six months.

"The secretary – [Treasury] Secretary [Timothy] Geithner – has been irresponsible. He’s playing chicken little here," DeMint said. "The fact is we will pay our debts if it’s the last dollar we have.”
