BOSTON (AP) — U.S. Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius (seh-BEEL'-yuhs) is urging the country to forge ahead with President Barack Obama's landmark health care overhaul despite Republican calls to repeal the law.

Sebelius made the comments during a visit to Massachusetts where she met with health care advocates and Gov. Deval Patrick.

The trip came on the same day that Republicans in the U.S. House began efforts to scrap the law. The repeal is considered little more than a symbolic swipe because the Democratic-controlled Senate is expected to rebuff any repeal.

Sebelius said she's also confident that one of the more contentious elements of the law — the so-called "individual mandate" that requires everyone be insured or face fines — will withstand constitutional challenges.
