NEW YORK (AP) — Republican Newt Gingrich is meeting with Donald Trump at his office in Manhattan's Trump Tower and running his first TV ad in Iowa.
The former House speaker has scheduled several events in New York on Monday as he tries to capitalize on his surging poll numbers.
Gingrich arrived to a crush of media and curious onlookers. He said he was meeting Trump to talk about job creation.
Asked if his new strength in the GOP presidential contest was temporary or real, he said it was "up to the American people to decide."
Gingrich strikes an optimistic tone in the 60-second Iowa ad, saying: "Working together, I know we can rebuild America."
