GOP Rep Unhappy With Presidential Hopefuls

A slew of Republicans have demonstrated interest in running for president next year. But GOP congressmen haven’t shown much enthusiasm for any of them, Politico reports.

How much this reflects the quality of the field and how much it reflects the fact that virtually every congressman thinks it is he/she who should be president is unclear.

But Politico interviews with Republican House members and senators show strong concern about the quality of the present crop of presidential hopefuls and little agreement on who would provide a better alternative.

congressmen, unhappy, gop, hopefuls“I don’t see anyone in the current field right now, and people say that to me, as well. I’m reflecting what I hear,” said California Rep. David Dreier, chairman of the House Rules Committee.

“Everybody’s looking for a Ronald Reagan, and they don’t see one.”
