The technology industry usually is seen as firmly allied with Democrats. But social networking giant Facebook has announced that its chief operating officer, Sheryl Sandberg, will host an Internet-based discussion next week with three House Republican leaders whose book earned them the moniker “Young Guns”: Majority Leader Eric Cantor, Whip Kevin McCarthy, and Budget Committee Chairman Paul Ryan,
Politico reports.
Cantor, McCarthy, and Ryan co-authored last year’s paperback, “Young Guns: A New Generation of Conservative Leaders.”
One can guess that Facebook realizes Republicans are on the ascent and wants to protect its position in Washington. The event will include a discussion of what members of Congress are doing “to help the U.S. economy rebound and how technology is changing the way government works,” Facebook said.
Sandberg was chief of staff in the Treasury Department under President Bill Clinton.
The event will take place at 6 p.m. Eastern time on Sept. 26 on Facebook Live.
