Senate Majority Whip Dick Durbin says Democrats must be prepared to discuss entitlement reform, including Medicare, but was
against its privatization, according to
Politico. Appearing on "Fox News Sunday," Durbin also said raising taxes should be on the table.
Senate Minority Whip Jon Kyl, who also appeared on the program, said the GOP would not accept tax increases.
“I don’t want to privatize Medicare any more than I want to privatize Social Security. There are ways to reform the system responsibly, and I'm in favor of that,” Durbin said.
Durbin also noted “we do have to cut spending, but we also have to take a look at revenue and entitlement programs.”
