A new ad promoting Republican presidential candidate Herman Cain is drawing attention for its out-of-the-box nature.
The ad, which the
New York Daily News first noted on a YouTube page, features Cain chief of staff Mark Block looking directly at the camera and smoking a cigarette.
It opens with Block introducing himself and then noting, "We've run a campaign like nobody's ever seen, but then America has never seen a candidate like Herman Cain."
The 56-second spot is mostly a close-in head shot of Block talking and comes to a close with Block taking a drag on a cigarette and blowing smoke toward the camera. The ad then fades into a head shot of Cain turning towards the camera and breaking into a smile while the song, “I Am America,” plays.
The song is a paean to the tea party recently recorded by seventh-season American Idol hopeful Krista Branch.
