Americans who support House Speaker John Boehner are putting their money where their mouths are. He raised more than $4.8 million in the first quarter,
Politico reports.
And other Republicans are benefiting, as Boehner transferred nearly $850,000 to the National Republican Congressional Committee from two of his political committees: the Freedom Project and Boehner for Speaker. The Freedom Project — Boehner’s leadership PAC — also gave $60,000 to Republican freshmen to help them close out last year’s campaign debts.
“Speaker Boehner’s outstanding fundraising success is a result of his tireless work and commitment to our shared goal of staying on offense and expanding the House Republican majority,” said NRCC Chairman Pete Sessions, Texas. “He played a central role in helping Republicans achieve victory, and I am very grateful for his leadership and continued support.”
