President Barack Obama took the traditional political image-boosting tack of baby kissing to a whole new level when he comforted a bawling baby and silenced the squalls.
He applied the soothing touch as a Baby Whisperer during the annual congressional picnic on the White House lawn with a baby who was bawling to high heaven when first lady Michelle was holding the girl, according to The Ticket blog.
As Michelle turned to give the baby back to its mother, the mom asked for a picture with the president. Quick to oblige, Obama took the infant and bounced her gently for a bit, and the crying subsided.
A video of the incident shows Michelle's surprise and, perhaps, a presidential victory lap of sorts — to the first lady's chagrin.
No word yet on whether any baby polls are tracking Obama's approval ratings. But next up: Could he become a House Whisperer?
