Have you heard about the latest example of Hollywood and liberal elitists’ hypocrisy?

They have suddenly discovered the evils of radical Islam and Shariah law!

They are actually standing up for, at least some, of the voiceless in much of the Islamic world!

Historically, most of them and their allies in the mainstream media turned their backs on victims of radical Islam — women and Christian minorities — and accused anyone of criticizing its practices as being “anti-Muslim” and “Islamophobes.”

So why the change?

Because the reality of the primitive practices and beliefs of radical Islam and Shariah law either hit too close to home or could not be ignored.

Case in point — Beverly Hills, Calif.

The Beverly Hills City Council recently passed a resolution condemning the country of Brunei, and the owner of the swank Beverly Hills Hotel, for implementing Shariah law.

Shariah law condemns women to the worst kinds of serfdom and virtual slavery. A few of its criminal penalties include flogging, severing of limbs, and death by stoning for adultery or engaging in homosexual relationships.

The City Council action was spurred by high-profile protests by many of the Hollywood elite including: comedians Ellen DeGeneres and Jay Leno; the Motion Picture & Television Fund; the Feminist Majority Foundation; the International Women's Media Foundation, and the Human Rights Campaign, whose president said: "we must ensure that profits from LGBT weddings in the U.S. stop going to a regime that could soon start executing its LGBT citizens."

Well said!

Beverly Hills Mayor Lili Bosse called the Brunei laws “shocking and inhumane” and said they “must be met with a strong statement of support for the human rights of the people of Brunei,” adding: “We are standing for human rights, we are standing for dignity, and we are standing for those who don’t have a voice.”

Please!

Are you kidding?

So where have the mayor and her friends been?

Speaking of hypocrisy, let’s not forget all of those celebrities and political figures posing in photos holding up the hashtag “#BringBackOurGirls” signs protesting the kidnapping of nearly 300 Nigerian Christian schoolgirls by the radical Islamic terrorist group Boko Haram.

Why were they kidnapped and made to convert to Islam — because they dared be Christian and get an education.

So, the question to the mayor, the protesters, and the “hashtag” photo crowd who suddenly have discovered some of the evils of radical Islam is: Where have you been?

Where were you when Brandeis University caved in to criticism and petitions from students, faculty, and the Council on American-Islamic Relations and decided not to award an honorary degree to Somali-born women’s rights activist Ayaan Hirsi Ali?

Her crime was being an outspoken critic of practices against women in Islamic societies such as female genital mutilation, of which she was a victim, and for calling Islam the “new Fascism.”

And, more recently where were and are you regarding the sentencing of pregnant Christian Mariam Yahia Ibrahim Ishag in the Sudan to 100 lashes for marrying a Christian and death by hanging for, guess what, not recanting her faith and converting to Islam.

She was raised by her Christian mother after her Muslim father deserted the family. Since her father was a Muslim, she is regarded as having left Islam.

We do not see those so angry at the imposition of Shariah law in Brunei or the kidnapping of the Nigerian school girls criticizing Brandeis University, protesting the Sudanese government, or expressing anger and concern over Christians being slaughtered in many parts of the Muslim world.

Why?

Probably because there is no immediate political or politically correct benefit.

Hypocrites all!

As Christopher Cowdray, CEO of the Dorchester Collection of luxury hotels, which includes the Beverly Hills Hotel, aptly noted, although Shariah law exists in other parts of the world, he did not see the city council take any action “refuting laws in those countries.”

The same can be said of the politically correct “cause of the month” Beverly Hills protesters and Nigerian girls’ hashtag crowds.

How sad — and hypocritical!
