Challenging skeptics in 2009, President Obama eagerly took possession of the issue. "Give it to me. My job is to solve problems, not to stand on the sidelines and harp and gripe," he said back then.
What's ironic is that these comments were made at an event in Michigan where Obama unveiled a plan to help community colleges prepare millions of Americans for a new generation of jobs. The problem is that there hasn't been substantive job growth since Obama took office — neither for college grads looking for a first job nor for seasoned members of the workforce who remain unemployed. Worse yet: There are few signs that things will change down the road.
