In a historic ruling, the U.S. Supreme Court on Thursday upheld President Obama’s controversial healthcare law. While this is certainly a political victory for the president and the Democrats, it may just have cost them the 2012 election and opened the door for Republicans — and most importantly — voters who've demanded to have their say in the matter.
In the majority opinion written by Chief Justice John Roberts, he reminds Americans that this law is the consequence of a political decision that is the consequence of having elected Obama and ushered in a Democratic Congress.
Roberts wrote: “We (the Court) possess neither the expertise nor the prerogative to make policy judgments. Those decisions are entrusted to our nation’s elected leaders, who can be thrown out of office if the people disagree with them. It is not our job to protect the people from the consequences of their political choices.”
Translation: If you don’t like the healthcare law, get rid of Obama and the Democrats.
