It is often said that patience is a virtue. For supporters of the Republican Party in the forthcoming 2012 election cycle, it is a requirement.
Just this week, two more potential Republican candidates for president announced they wouldn't be running: master media manipulator Donald Trump and social conservative hero and former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee. This has left many in the GOP feeling anxious; moreover, it has opened the door for the liberal media to paint a picture of the GOP in utter disarray.
But despite appearances, that image couldn't be further from the truth. The GOP, with its nearly dozen declared or rumored candidates hoping to unseat President Obama, is doing what every party does in anticipation for a White House run — weeding itself out. In every cycle, the field always narrows as the race begins to take shape and the primaries approach.
