Leaked emails suggest that al-Qaida Osama bin Laden’s body was transported to a U.S. mortuary instead of being buried at sea, according to several reports on Tuesday, citing emails of the Stratfor intelligence firm that WikiLeaks obtained from the Anonymous hacker group.
The official U.S. government story is that, after U.S. Navy SEALs killed the 9/11 mastermind in a raid in Pakistan on May 2 last year, his body was wrapped in a sheet and buried at sea after a Muslim ceremony aboard the USS Carl Vinson.
But the WikiLeaks version quotes an email from Stratfor intelligence official Fred Burton as saying, “Reportedly, we took the body with us. Thank goodness,” according to the
rt.com news website.
Another Burton email said the body was “bound for Dover, [Del.] on CIA plane” and then “onward to the Armed Forces Institute of Pathology in Bethesda,” Md.
"The US Govt needs to make body pics available like the MX's do, with OBL's pants pulled down, to shout down the lunatics like Alex Jones and Glenn Beck,” another email allegedly says.
Still another Burton email insists that bin Laden’s body “is a crime scene and I don’t see the FBI nor DOJ letting that happen.”
WikiLeaks, which began publishing the U.S.-based Stratfor’s emails in late February, says it obtained them from the hacker group Anonymous after it attacked one of Stratfor’s servers and swiped more than 5 million emails.
