Members of former President Mohamed Morsi's family Monday accused the Egyptian military of "kidnapping" and illegally detaining the ousted Egyptian leader.
At a Cairo press conference, attended by Morsi’s daughter Shaimaa and sons Osama and Abdallah, family members denounced the Egyptian military, in particular Defense Minister Abdel Fattah El-Sisi.
"I hold El-Sisi responsible for anything that happens to my father’s health while he is in captivity," Shaimaa Morsi said, while denouncing his incarceration as "a criminal act against human rights."
Her brother Osama "threatened" el-Sisi with the repercussions of the "crime he committed against democracy," according to a
report in Al-Ahram.
Osama Morsi added that his family might seek help from the International Criminal Court.
Mohamed Morsi has been held at an undisclosed location since he was removed from office by the Egyptian military July 3.
