LONDON, Jan 6 (Reuters) - British police said on Tuesday
they had dropped an investigation into rape allegations against
a lawmaker from Prime Minister David Cameron's Conservative
Party because of a lack of evidence.
In December, Mark Pritchard, 48, who represents the Wrekin
constituency in Shropshire, western England, was arrested after
voluntarily attending a police station for questioning.
However, police said they had now ended their inquiries.
"A 48-year-old man who was arrested on Dec. 2 on suspicion
of rape returned on bail today and he was advised that no
further action would be taken due to insufficient evidence," a
police spokeswoman said.
