Van Morrison is calling on his fellow singers and musicians to fight against social distancing at concerts.
Morrison made his comments in a posting on his website.
“We need to be playing to full capacity audiences going forward,” he said. “I call on my fellow singers, musicians, writers, producers, promoters and others in the industry to fight with me on this."
“Come forward, stand up, fight the pseudo-science and speak up.”
He maintained it was “not economically viable to do social distanced gigs."
“Come forward now, the future is now,” he said. “We would like to publish a list of names of all those who are supporting the industry.”
His comments came after composer Andrew Lloyd Webber told the BBC in July that it isn’t economically viable to run theaters with social distancing.
“Sir Andrew Lloyd Webber and myself appear to be the only people in the music business trying to get it back up and running again,” Morrison noted.
