Usain Bolt in Quarantine after Taking COVID-19 Test

Tuesday, 25 August 2020 07:26 PM EDT

Eight-time Olympic gold medalist Usain Bolt confirmed over social media on Monday that he is in quarantine as he awaits the results of a COVID-19 test.

The Jamaican sprinter said he was tested on Saturday, one day after a party to celebrate his 34th birthday.

Bolt posted a video on both Twitter and Instagram to clear the air after he said he saw reports that he already had tested positive.

"Good morning everybody. Just waking up and like everybody, checked social media and saw that social media's saying I'm confirmed to have COVID-19," Bolt said in a video.

"I did a test on Saturday, because I have work. I'm trying to be responsible, so I'm gonna stay in and stay here for my friends.

"Also I'm having no symptoms, so I'm going to quarantine myself and wait on the confirmation to see what is the protocol on how I should go about quarantining myself from the Ministry of Health.

"Just to be safe, I'll quarantine myself and just take it easy."
