RIO DE JANEIRO (AP) — Brazil's Bar Association is criticizing President Jair Bolsonaro over a twitter attack on a critical journalist for one of the country's largest newspapers.

Bolsonaro sent a tweet Sunday saying that Constanca Rezende of the newspaper O Estado de S.Paulo had been recorded saying says she wants to ruin the life of Bolsonaro's son, Flavio, and impeach Bolsonaro. Rezende has reported on a corruption scandal involving alleged irregular payments to Flavio Bolsonaro.

In the audio, Rezende says in English, "This case can ruin Bolsonaro ... I think it's an impeachment case."

Bolsonaro accused journalists of wanting "to topple the government with blackmail, disinformation and leaks."

The Bar Association says Bolsonaro is trying to intimidate media outlets and journalists.
