Singer Justin Bieber tweeted his support over the weekend for President Donald Trump trying to help rapper A$AP Rocky get out of a Swedish jail, although he added some criticism for the chief executive as well.
"I want my friend out," Bieber wrote. "I appreciate you trying to help him. But while (you're) at it @realDonaldTrump can you also let those kids out of cages?"
Bieber was referring to the ongoing situation on the border with Mexico, where some migrant children are being kept in harsh conditions in detention centers.
On Saturday, Trump spoke with Swedish Prime Minister Stefan Löfven to discuss the rapper’s case. According to CNN, A$AP Rocky has been detained since July 3 after an incident in Stockholm in which he faces accusations of assault.
The Stockholm District Court ruled on Friday that the rapper should stay in custody for another week while prosecutors complete their probe into a June 30 fight that A$AP Rocky is accused of taking part in.
Trump became involved in A$AP Rocky’s case after entertainers Kim Kardashian and Kanye West lobbied the president on his behalf, according to Mediate.
Kardashian has frequently met the president to lobby him on issues related to criminal justice.
