President Donald Trump on Saturday warned Iran against carrying out what Tehran described as a major pending strike, saying the United States would respond with overwhelming force if attacked.
"Iran just stated that they are going to hit very hard today, harder than they have ever hit before," Trump wrote on Truth Social. "THEY BETTER NOT DO THAT ... BECAUSE IF THEY DO, WE WILL HIT THEM WITH A FORCE THAT HAS NEVER BEEN SEEN BEFORE!"
The warning came as tensions surged following the joint U.S.-Israeli military campaign targeting Iran's leadership and strategic military infrastructure.
Mohammad Bagher Qalibaf, speaker of Iran's Parliament, responded on state television by accusing U.S. and Israeli leaders of crossing a "red line."
Addressing Trump and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu directly, Qalibaf called them "filthy criminals" and said they "will pay for it" and face "devastating blows."
Tehran has signaled it is weighing retaliation, raising concerns of further escalation across the region.
U.S. officials have defended the initial strikes as necessary to neutralize missile and nuclear threats posed by the Iranian regime. Trump has repeatedly said Iran will never be allowed to have a nuclear weapon.
The sharp exchange of warnings underscores the high-stakes standoff now unfolding between Washington and Tehran, with both sides projecting resolve as the situation develops.
