British Prime Minister Theresa May has "made the most unholy mess" of Brexit by putting out a deal for it that is "completely unacceptable," Independence Party leader and Brexit architect Nigel Farage said Friday.

"We unequivocally voted to leave and we are due to leave two weeks from today," Farage told Fox News' "Fox and Friends." "The problem is, hundreds of our members of Parliament didn't only vote the other way, but have never ever respected the result and are doing their best to overturn it, to frustrate it."

On Thursday, Parliament voted to seek a delay for leaving the European Union, in hopes of averting a chaotic withdrawal on the exit date of March 29.

Farage said Britain should, under its law, leave in two weeks without a new treaty, "and that's fine," but Parliament sought the extension, and he does not approve.

"This is one of the oldest functioning democracies in the world, and our democracy is being walked all over it," said Brexit. "This is one of the most shameful episodes in the history of my country."

Farage compared the standoff to the divide between the left and President Donald Trump in the United States, calling them the "same game."

"You know, both Brexit and Trump were huge, seismic shocks in the political arena," said Farage. "I think the parallels are remarkable. The old globalist order is not enjoying this massive democratic revolution."
