BRATISLAVA, Slovakia (AP) — Slovakia's prime minister has been discharged from a clinic in the capital following heart surgery.

The 51-year-old Robert Fico was hospitalized April 14 following a cardiac examination at the National Institute of Cardiovascular Diseases and was operated on April 22.

Officials declined to give any details about the surgery at the request of Fico's family.

On Sunday, Fico announced his discharge from the clinic on Facebook and thanked the doctors, nurses and all medical personnel at the institute.

The clinic in Bratislava confirmed that, saying his condition has improved and Fico will recuperate at home.

Fico was sworn in as prime minister for the third time after his leftist Smer-Social Democracy party won a parliamentary election in March.
