Germany: 2 Convicted of Killing Man Who Contacted Daughter

BERLIN (AP) — A German court has convicted a couple and a friend of murder and sentenced them to life in prison for killing a man who had contacted their 12-year-old daughter on Facebook. They wrongly suspected him of being a pedophile.

The state court in Aachen found Tuesday that the couple and a family friend lured the 29-year-old victim to a meeting outside the western German city last August, and the father fatally stabbed him, news agency dpa reported.

The victim had sent the daughter, who claimed on Facebook to be 22, the message: "How are you?"

The parents, however, suspected the mentally disabled man of being a pedophile who had previously harassed her via the social network. The defendants' names weren't released in keeping with German privacy rules.
