Former presidential adviser and campaign consultant Dick Morris told Newsmax TV on Friday that reports of presumptive Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden being paid more than $900,000 by the University of Pennsylvania will reignite questions about his ties to China.

The Philadelphia Inquirer reported Friday that former Vice President Biden received $371,159 in 2017 plus $540,484 in 2018 and early 2019 for “a vaguely defined role” at Penn, which hosts the Penn Biden Center.

“Apparently, the Chinese give huge amounts of money to the University of Pennsylvania, and upped their contribution enormously once the Biden Center was established,” Morris told Spicer & Co.

“And the University of Pennsylvania fully funds the Biden Center. So we don’t know how much of the money that China gave ended up in the Biden Center, much less in Biden’s pocket. But when you add the combination of the $900,000 from the Biden Center to the $1.5 billion that Hunter Biden got from the Bank of China for his hedge fund – after he visited China on Air Force Two with the vice president at the time – you really have to question did China bribe Joe Biden. And will that influence his conduct, vis-à-vis China.”

Morris, who was a long-time adviser to Bill Clinton while Clinton was governor of Arkansas and U.S. President, was referring to a December 2013 trip made to China by then-Vice President Biden. Biden was accompanied by his son Hunter, who helped negotiate a deal to create a joint-investment fund between his company, Rosemont Seneca, and a Chinese state-run bank.

The Bidens have denied any wrongdoing in the China trip. Biden’s campaign declined to comment about the former vice president’s role at Penn when requested by the Inquirer.
