Russia has hit its highest one-day mark of coronavirus cases, reporting 9,623 new cases, Reuters reported.
The total number of confirmed coronavirus cases has now hit 124,054. In all, 1,222 people in Russia have died from the virus, including 57 Saturday.
Russia has fewer confirmed cases than other large countries, but its new cases have not reached their peak or the downside of the curve.
The country has been partially locked down since March. Moscow residents are required to present travel permits that show they are essential workers to travel publicly.
Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin announced Thursday he has coronavirus. He will self-quarantine while taking over as First Deputy Prime Minister Andrei Belousov as acting prime minister.
While people in other countries are making a rush for toilet paper during the outbreak, Russians have gone on a cash grab. In March, alone, panic-struck Russians withdrew $13.6 billion from ATMs, which exceeds all withdrawals in 2019.
